Hippodrome Theatre
The London Hippodrome
Theatre was built In 1909 and Matcham
turned it into a theatre with 1300
seats, inclusive of a gallery to London's
delight. Soon,Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake
staged the English premiere by the
Russian Ballet in 1910.
During 1887
to 1960 the Albert de Courville revues
took place in the London Hippodrome
Theatre.
In addition,
they hosted Musical comedies, including
The Five O'Clock Girl and Mr. Cinders
in 1929, and Ivor Novello's Perchance
to Dream in 1938.

Theatre was at its finest in the 50's
and was often compared Folies Bergeres.

The Hippodrome Theatre Casino
A large investment has been improved
by Lewisham Town Council to convert
this Grade II listed building into
a casino, but the original features
inculding the Flemish Renaissance
plasterwork, mosaics, ornate balustrades
and glorious interior will be maintained.
However the renovation will also modernise
the building to be able to offer a
thricing gaming centre.
It is expected to be launched in
late 2011 as the Hippodrome Casino,branded
as "London’s first ever leisure
casino, dining and entertainment venue,
making it a global leisure destination".
The Hippodrome Casino will have a
restaurant on the first floor balcony,bar
and cabaret area seating 180 in front
of the new beautiful stage which will
bring famous names back to the Hippodrome.
The ground floor casino area will
feature 20 gaming tables, and lots
of electronic gaming terminals spaciously
arranged under the 60 ft atrium and
the Minstrels gallery high above.
The basement,will have a second Casino
area, slightly more exclusive and
at roof level, a third Casino area
for higher stake gaming, as well as
a smoking terrace, bar and lounge,
which will also be available for private
parties, film premieres, product launches
and much more and to top it off there
will be a dedicated poker deck on
the top level.
