Hippodrome Theatre
The London Hippodorome Theatre was built In
1909 and Matcham turned it into a theatre with 1300 seats, inclusive
of a gallery to London's delight.
Soon,Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake staged the English
premiere by the Russian Ballet in 1910.
The Albert de Courville (1887-1960) revues
took place in the London Hippodrome Theatre.
In addition, they hosted Musical comedies,
including The Five O'Clock Girl and Mr. Cinders in 1929, and Ivor
Novello's Perchance to Dream in 1938.
The London Hippodrome Theatre was at its finest
in the 50's and was often compared Folies Bergeres.
